Balancing It All; Life As An Entrepreneur, Wife, & Mom

To be completely transparent, life as an entrepreneur, wife, and mother is no easy task but I love every moment of it. I am truly living the life of my dreams. And, every day that I wake up, I give thanks for it all.

When I decided to take the leap and leave Corporate America back in 2010 to be a full time entrepreneur, I really didn’t have any idea what I was in for. However, the one thing that I did know was that I wanted to create a life that I got to define; A life that would revolve around the things that were most important to me. For me, it’s always been about my relationship with God, my family, and then being able to do what I love (as long as it didn’t interfere with the first two). So when I started my business, I knew that success for me would not just be defined by how much money I made but also by how fulfilled I was in my personal life.

Of course, the more my business grew, the more adjustments I had to make to be sure that I always remained balanced in the other areas of my life. There were times I even had to turn business away because it would have meant missing out on family vacations or even something as simple as having dinner with my family. I know some would say, it’s just one family dinner or one family vacation. But the truth is, when you start compromising, missing one family dinner turns into two, then three, then four, then something you end up missing a lot more than you intended because you feel like the family will always be there but this opportunity may not. And, that’s the kind of thinking I want to avoid at all cost.

I also know that having a great support system has help me tremendously with remaining balanced as well. On many occasions my husband had to be a voice of reason when I needed to make a business decision that may have taken me away from things that were important to my family as a whole. And boy oh boy am I happy he was there to reason with me because I could have missed out on some really great moments that I couldn’t get back.

So with the years of experience that I’ve gained with balancing my life as an entrepreneur, I’ve become very passionate about sharing and guiding other women entrepreneurs on how to do the same.

If you’re an entrepreneur or thinking of becoming an entrepreneur, here are some tips I think would be great to implement so that you can be balance and happy in business and in life:

  1. Take some time to visualize and define what success looks like for you in all areas of your life and not just in your business

  2. Write it down in a journal so that you can use it as a reference often.

  3. Be willing to readjust when necessary

  4. Have a great support system

Always Remember: To be truly successful in business and in life, you need Achievement & Fulfillment

Blossom & Thrive,
